Nerve ships with sensible defaults, but you can shape how it behaves for you. Every control lives on your Account page and changes something real — there are no cosmetic toggles. None of these settings let Nerve place, cancel, or fill orders. Nerve reads, ranks, explains, and suggests sizing. You always execute on the venue yourself.

Where to find these settings

Click your profile icon in the top-right of the header and open the Account page. Scroll to the Nerve block and the Trading profile block. Change a control and hit Save. Nerve preferences apply across the terminal right away — no reload needed. There are two blocks doing two different jobs. Nerve preferences shape what Nerve says and what it surfaces first. Your Trading profile shapes what Nerve sizes and what it shows you.

Nerve preferences

These control how Nerve presents itself, and they take effect immediately across the rail, the inspector, and Ask Nerve the moment you save. Answer depth (Terse, Standard, Detailed) sets how much reasoning each answer carries. Terse keeps just the read and the next thing to check. Detailed adds supporting signals when there’s room. Risk sensitivity (Relaxed, Balanced, Strict) sets how aggressively Nerve flags risk. Relaxed shows the single top risk only. Strict shows the full set and won’t call something clear to act while two or more risks are still open — it downgrades to watch. Freshness strictness (Lenient, Standard, Strict) sets how cautious Nerve is about stale data. Strict treats unconfirmed data as stale and tells you to inspect first before acting. Lenient is more willing to treat aging data as current. Rail focus (Balanced, Risks first, Opportunities first, Catalysts first) sets what your Nerve rail prioritizes, reordering the stream so the kind of item you care about leads. Domain emphasis (All, Politics, Sports, Crypto, Culture) sets which market domain Nerve weights first. Matching items get pulled to the front of your rail; everything else still shows, just lower. Confidence display (Hidden, Qualitative word) sets whether Nerve shows a one-word confidence read on the posture panel and opening answer. It’s hidden by default, and Nerve never shows a fake confidence percentage. If Nerve feels too noisy, try Risk sensitivity Relaxed and Answer depth Terse. If you want it cautious, Risk sensitivity Strict and Freshness strictness Strict is the careful combination.

Trading profile

This is where you become a real trader to Nerve instead of a generic one. It drives suggested sizing and what gets surfaced for you. These settings save to your profile and shape Nerve’s next read. Your bankroll is stored as a band, never an exact verified figure — Nerve sizes against the band and never sees or stores a real balance. For sizing: Experience sets your starting answer depth and how strict Nerve is by default, with new traders getting the most scaffolding. Bankroll band turns on suggested sizing and sets your default caps; leaving it on “Prefer not to say” keeps sizing off. Unit size is the unit you think in, and suggested sizes come back in whole units of it. Max single position is a hard ceiling on any one suggested position — Nerve never suggests above it and names the cap when it applies. Max family/cluster exposure is a hard ceiling on total exposure to one correlated group of markets, so suggested sizes shrink to fit remaining room. Risk tolerance sets how much of the staking math Nerve applies — conservative stakes less, aggressive stakes more, but Nerve always stays well below full-aggressive staking by design. Setting your bankroll band auto-fills sensible defaults for unit size and caps, and you can override any of them afterward. Anything you set yourself is marked “You set this.” For discovery: Domains you care about get pulled to the front of discovery and your rail from your first session. Venues you trade on make Nerve prefer staged actions and opportunities on venues you can actually act on. Don’t show me lists domains you never want surfaced for action — they’re dropped from discovery entirely and stay dropped across sessions. Each field shows a small tag for where the value came from: “You set this” for values you entered, “Nerve inferred” for values Nerve derived from your activity, and “Default” for conservative starting values you haven’t changed.

Privacy and your data

Your bankroll is a band, never a verified number, and the sizing math runs against that band so no exact balance is ever stored. You can download everything Nerve holds about you with Export profile in the Trading profile block, which produces a JSON file of your profile and its provenance.

Common questions

These settings are tied to your account and only change Nerve’s behavior for you, not anyone else’s. Nerve preferences apply across the terminal right away, but Trading profile changes shape Nerve’s next read, so they show up on the following sizing or discovery pass rather than as a live toggle. If you left bankroll on “Prefer not to say,” suggested sizing stays off and the caps sit at conservative defaults. Turning on Confidence display shows a single qualitative word, never a percentage. And no — none of this means Nerve is trading for you; it only changes how Nerve reads, ranks, and suggests, and you always act on the venue yourself.

The short version

Nerve preferences change what Nerve says and surfaces first. Your Trading profile changes what Nerve sizes and shows you. Set them once and Nerve stops being generic — but the final call on every trade is always yours.
